Access: We are on an island so the only access is by boat. We bring guests across the lake by motorboat, which is why we prefer that you arrive by 4pm or contact us if that is not possible.
BBQs: A propane BBQ is located near the sauna deck for guest use. There is also a picnic area on the mainland with charcoal BBQs.
Bedding: There are pillows and wool blankets on the beds, but no sheets or pillowcases. Guests must bring their own bedding, towels etc. We recommend sleeping bags as they are usually easier to bring than sheets.
Boating: We rent 14 ft aluminum fishing boats. Only boats owned by the lodge are allowed on the lake. (See our

Can and bottle ban: As Killarney is a wilderness park you cannot take cans and bottles when you go out into the park. However, you are allowed to have them at the lodge.
Canoeing: We are located inside Killarney Provincial Park - a popular wilderness canoeing destination. We rent a variety of canoes to our guests through Killarney Kanoes.
Cellphones: There are no telephones in the cabins and we are generally out of cell phone range. Most people can get a cell phone signal from the top of the hill behind the lodge. (See our

Check-in/
Check-out: Our check-in time is after 12:00pm and our check-out time is before 10:00am. If you plan on arriving after 4pm, please make sure you let us know as we have to be watching to bring you across the lake.
Fall colours: There is, of course, no guarantee on when the tree colours will peak. We usually suggest the 3rd week in September, but they can be as late as the 1st week in October.
Fishing: We have large and small mouth bass (open from the last Saturday in June) and northern pike. (open year round)
Gasoline: It is a good idea to get gas before leaving Hwy 69 as Killarney is the only place to get gas once you turn off.
Hiking: You can access the main park hiking trail at the end of Bell Lake - a short canoe ride from the lodge. This is the trail starting point for Silver Peak as well.
Internet access: Our satellite connection uses a lot of power, and so is only used when the sun shines and so internet use cannot be guaranteed.
Kitchens: We supply pots and pans, dishes and cooking and eating utensils. There is a propane stove top (no oven) and a propane refrigerator.
Lighting: There is no electricity in the cabins, so lighting is provided by wall mounted propane lights. Please do not use candles in the cabins - we are a very long way from a fire station.
Minimum Stay: From mid-June to mid-September the cabins are rented by the week only (from Sunday to Saturday). In the shoulder seasons the cabins rent for a minimum three night stay. We do not take reservations for just one night.
Operating Season: Blue Mountain Lodge is open from approximately mid-May to mid-October. The operating season depends on the weather as we cannot access the lodge until the ice is gone from the lake.
Payment: You can pay by e-transfer, cash, cheque, Visa or Mastercard.
Pets: Sorry: we do not allow pets.
Refrigeration: All of the cabins have propane fridges, however please remember that they are smaller than you have at home, and the freezer is quite small. Sorry - we cannot sell ice due to our own refrigeration limitations.
Reservations: Reservations may be made by email anytime after January 1st for the following summer. We operate almost 100% by reservation and it is rare that we can accept a guest without a reservation.
Restaurants: The closest restaurants are in Killarney, approximately 40 minutes away.
Road Conditions: Bell Lake Road is a gravel road that is always open once the snow has gone. However it should be driven with care as there can be sudden dips.
Shopping: The town of Killarney is the closest place to shop (approximately 40 minutes away), however it is very limited and so we recommend that you bring your supplies for the week. Killarney is fun to visit for ice cream and fish and chips, and the Killarney Park office sells souvenirs.
Smoking: We request that guests only smoke outside the cabins.
Swimming: Bell Lake is great for swimming with very few weeds and a moderate temperature (by Canadian standards!). There is a very small sand beach with shallow water for the little ones.
Taxes: HST (Harmonized sales tax) is 13% on all goods and services.
Water: Lake water is not considered drinkable due to health regulations. Water should be boiled before drinking or you should bring drinking water with you.
Wildlife: Guests will often see black bear, cranes, fox, moose, deer and beavers. Wolf sitings are becoming more common. Of course, there are no guarantees!
Wood stoves: All of our cabins (except Shuska) have wood stoves for heat. We provide firewood for heat at no extra charge.
